Last week Apple updated Java and that update can wreak havoc on many Java applications you may use. 

Keep in mind that Java is different than Java Script, which you very well may have turned off since that's it's new default position within Safari.

Jave is a different beast and, while it isn't as popular as it once was, if you have a critical app that suddenly stops working without notice, this update could be the culprit.

Here's how you check.  Copy the following command and paste it directly into

/usr/libexec/java_home -v 1.6 -exec java -version

If you see xM4509, then all is right with your world.  If you see xM4508, then you will need to manually update your Java.
